Enabling/Set Conditions And Possible Causes - MAF Sent Sensor

MAF (SENT) SENSOR ENABLING CONDITIONS AND FAULT CRITERIA:

DTCS MONITORING CONDITIONS FAULT SETTING CRITERIA POSSIBLE CAUSES
MAF Sensor supply circuit faults (P0100, P0110, P00F2, & P0F5A)  .
  • Battery voltage above 10.9 volts with the key on.
The PCM detects that the digital MAF sensor supply circuit voltage is out of range low/high.
  • MAF sensor.
MAF Sensor performance fault (P0101)  .
  • Battery voltage above 10.9 volts with the engine running.
The PCM detects the MAF sensor feedback is valid, there are no throttle feedback errors, and the vehicle runs rough.
  • Engine mechanical issue.
  • Vacuum leak.
  • Air inlet system leak/plugged.
  • MAF sensor.
MAF Sensor performance faults (P0111, P00F3)  .
  • P0111 Intake Air Temperature performance.
  • P00F3 & P0F5B Humidity Temperature Sensor performance.
NOTE:

An 8 hour soak time is necessary before P0111 will reset.

  • Battery voltage above 10.9 volts with the key on.
The PCM detects that the MAF sensor's internal intake air temperature feedback is out of range compared to other engine temperature sensors.
or
The PCM detects that the MAF sensor's internal turbocharger inlet pressure feedback is out of range compared to other turbocharger pressure sensor values.
NOTE:

The PCM does not set individual low or high faults for the internal temperature or pressure sensors.

  • MAF sensor.
MAF Sensor lost communication faults (U060F, U0611, & U0693, U01D7)  .
  • Battery voltage above 10.9 volts with the key on.
The PCM detects that there is either no SENT communication signal (all 4 DTC's) or a single unexpected SENT communication signal response from the MAF sensor.
NOTE:

When a single communication DTC is set the possible cause is the MAF sensor. If all three communication DTC's are set together the following possible causes apply.

  • MAF sensor 5V supply circuit open, short to B+, or shorted to ground.
  • MAF sensor signal circuit shorted to ground.
  • MAF sensor signal circuit open.
  • MAF sensor ground circuit open.
  • MAF sensor.
  • PCM.
    NOTE:

If all three communication DTC's reset after replacing the MAF sensor, then check the sensor for a good scope pattern at the signal terminal before replacing the PCM.
