Steering Wheel: Notes
REMOVAL
WARNING:
Before servicing the steering column the airbag system must be disarmed. Failure to do so may result in accidental deployment of the airbag and possible personal injury.
WARNING:
When an undeployed airbag module is to be removed from the vehicle, first disconnect the battery ground cable and isolate it. Allow the system capacitor to discharge for a minimum of two minutes before starting any removal.
- Disconnect and isolate the negative battery cable(s). Refer to BATTERY DISCONNECT - DUAL 12 VOLT BATTERY SYSTEM .
- Remove the air bag. Refer to AIR BAG, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the horn switch. Refer to SWITCH, HORN, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION

1 - Steering Wheel Nut 2 - Wire Harness Connectors - Disconnect the wire harness connectors.
- Remove the steering wheel nut.
- Remove the steering wheel.
- Remove the Electronic Vehicle Information Center (EVIC) switch. Refer to SWITCH, EVIC CONTROL, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- Remove the remote radio switches. Refer to SWITCH, REMOTE RADIO, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
- If equipped, disconnect the heated steering wheel wire harness connectors and remove the steering wheel wire harness.
INSTALLATION
Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle.
