Diagnostic Test

  1. READ AND RECORD DTCS AND ENVIRONMENTAL DATA - ERASE DTCS AND CHECK FOR THE DTC TO RETURN 
    1. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs and record on the repair order.
    2. With the scan tool, run a Vehicle Scan Report or record the Environmental Data.
    3. With the scan tool, erase DTCs.
    4. Turn the ignition off for at least 10.0 seconds.
    5. Turn the ignition on.
    6. Using the recorded Environmental Data and the When Monitored Conditions, operate the vehicle in the conditions that set the DTC.
    7. With the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.

      Did the DTC return?

      Yes 

      • Go To Next Step.

      No 

  2. CHECK FOR ACTIVE INTERNAL FAULTS, IGNITION FAULTS, AND BATTERY FAULTS IN THE OCCUPANT RESTRAINT CONTROLLER (ORC) 
    NOTE:

    Make sure the battery is fully charged. 

    1. With the scan tool, read Occupant Restraint Controller (ORC) DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display any active DTCs relating to internal faults, ignition faults, or battery faults?

      Yes 

      No 

      • Go To Next Step.
  3. VERIFY THAT DTC IS ACTIVE 
    1. With the scan tool, erase ORC DTCs.
    2. Turn the ignition off, wait 10 seconds and then turn the ignition on.
    3. Wait 2 minutes, and then with the scan tool, read ORC DTCs.

      Does the scan tool display active: B2734-95-PASSENGER OCCUPANT DETECTION SENSOR-INCORRECT ASSEMBLY?

      Yes 

      • Go To Next Step.

      No 

  4. VERIFY SENSORS 
    1. Turn the ignition off.
    2. Inspect the Passenger seat wiring for Seat Position Sensors.

      Are Seat Position Sensor present?

      Yes 

      • Go To Next Step.

      No 

  5. VERIFY ORC PART NUMBER AND CONFIGURATION 
    1. With the scan tool verify the ORC part number and configuration.

      Is the ORC part number and configuration correct?

      Yes 

      • Disconnect the Occupant Detection Sensor connector and tie wrap the connector to the wire harness.
      • Perform the RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST. Refer to RESTRAINTS SYSTEM VERIFICATION TEST .

      No
