Steering Rack Boot: Notes

REMOVAL 

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to HOISTING, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to TIRES AND WHEELS, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
3. Remove the outer tie rod end. Refer to TIE ROD, STEERING, REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION .
4. Remove the tie rod jam nut.
   NOTE: Count the number of turns. This will give a good starting point when reassembling and when setting toe.

   4 - Tie Rod Jam Nut

   2 - Inner Tie Rod Boot (Gaiter)

   5 - Outer Tie Rod

   3 - Clamp

5. Remove the clamps from the inner tie rod boot (gaiter).
6. Remove and the inner tie rod boot (gaiter).

INSTALLATION 

Follow the removal procedure in reverse for general reassembly of the components on the vehicle. The steps listed below are calling out specific procedures that should be followed during installation.

• Perform the wheel alignment standard procedure. Refer to WHEEL ALIGNMENT, STANDARD PROCEDURE .
