General Information: General Description
The Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) injector is similar to a standard injector. With the GDI system, fuel is sprayed at a much higher pressure - up to 2000 psi. This high pressure helps to atomize fuel. The GDI system controls both the feed and ground circuits. The PCM has two drivers on the feed side. One supplies system 12 volts and the other supplies 55 volts (V-boost) to injectors. Some PCMs pulse a 12 volt signal to get current moving through the injector. The PCM will send a boost signal around (55v) to open the injector. The PCM will pulse 12 volts to hold the injector open, the PCM then shuts off the pulsing 12 volts to close the injector.
