Signal Circuit Inspection

IG "OFF" & Disconnect Alternator connector.
IG "ON".
Measure voltage between Pin No. 1 (COM) terminal of Alternator harness connector and chassis ground.
Measure voltage between Pin No. 3 (FR) terminal of Alternator harness connector and chassis ground.

Specification:

FR - Approx 12V

COM - Approx 2.65V (PWM Signal)

IG "OFF" & Disconnect PCM connector.
Measure resistance between Pin No. 3 (FR) terminal of Alternator harness connector and chassis ground.
Specification: ∞
Is the measured Value within specification?
YES
- Go to "COMPONENT INSPECTION " procedure.
NO
- Repair or replace as necessary and then, go to "VERIFICATION OF VEHICLE REPAIR " procedure.
