DTC Information: DTC Detecting Condition

Item Detecting Condition Possible Cause
DTC Strategy Case 1
  • Signal Stuck Low
  1. Poor Connector Connection
  2. Open or Short in ECT Sensor Signal Circuit
  3. Open or Short in IAT Sensor Signal Circuit
  4. Faulty ECT Sensor
  5. Faulty IAT Sensor
Case 2
  • Signal Stuck High

  • Rationality Monitoring
Enable Condition Case 1
  • ECT at engine start lower than 169°F (76°C)
  • Battery voltage higher than 6V and lower than 16V
  • No relevant DTC present
Case 2
  • ECT at engine start higher than or equal to 169°F (76°C)
  • Battery voltage higher than 11V and lower than 16V
  • IAT at engine start higher than 14°F (-10°C) and lower than 158°F (70° C)
  • Ambient air temperature model higher than 14°F (-10°C)
  • Part load driving condition (Engine speed higher than 1400 RPM & Vehicle Speed higher than 22 mph (35 km/h) & Mass air flow > 5.5g/s) for more than 250 to 500 s. depending on IAT
  • Low load driving condition (Fuel cut off or idle with vehicle speed lower than 12 mph (19 km/h) for more than 200 to 400s depending on IAT
  • No relevant DTC present
Case 3
  • Intake air temperature at engine start is between -30°C (-22°F) and 50° C (122°F)
  • Engine stop time greater than 480min
  • Battery voltage higher than 11V and lower than 16V
Threshold Value Case 1
  • When water Temperature is not changed comparing with it at the time of engine start
Case 2
  • ECT variation since engine start less than 4.05°F (2.25°C)
Case 3
  • Deviation of ECT and 2 other (IAT, AAT) higher than 68°F (20°C)
  • Deviation of among other temp. sensors (IAT, AAT) less than 68°F (20°C)

  • 2 Driving Cycles
