DTC U0164-00: Lost Communication With HVAC Control Module (FATC CAN Time Out): General Description

The main features of CAN (Controller Area Network) bus system are:

• A data-Transfer rate up to 1 Mbit/s for the High-Speed CAN and up to 125kbit/s for the Low-Speed CAN.
• Signals are broadcast in both directions.
• The Multi-master principle.
• High availability by locating failed control units.
• Standardization in accordance with ISO 11898.

Vehicle electronic control need many informations of each module to reduce exhaust and increase convenience/safety by optimum control. The TCM can either receive data from the Engine Control Module or ABS control module, or it can send data to the PCM and ABSPCM by using CAN communication.
