DTC P0077-00: Intake Valve Control Solenoid Circuit-High (Bank 1): General Description
The Oil Control Valve (OCV) is an integral part of the Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) system. The OCV controls the flow of engine oil in the CVVT actuator assembly. As the PCM controls the OCV duty cycle, oil pressure/flow changes and it advances or retards the camshaft timing. Duty cycles near 0% or 100% represent rapid movement of the camshaft. Retaining a fixed camshaft position is accomplished by oscillating the OCV duty cycle.
The PCM calculates and determines the desired camshaft position. It continually updates the OCV duty cycle until the desired position is achieved. With the application of CVVT; engine power, fuel efficiency and the quality of exhaust gas are improved.
