Repair Procedures: Removal

  1. Remove the battery and battery tray.

    (Refer to " Removal  ") 

  2. Drain the engine coolant.

    (Refer to " Replacement And Air Bleeding  " ) 

  3. Separate the main wiring protector (A) from the body frame.

  4. Disconnect the main connector (A) and position switch connector (B).

  5. Remove the shift cable (A) after removing the nut (B) and bolts (C).

    Tightening torque: 

    1. 9.8 - 14.7 N.m (1.0 - 1.5 kgf.m, 7.2 - 10.8 lb.ft)
    2. 14.7 - 21.6 N.m (1.5 - 2.2 kgf.m, 10.9 - 15.9 lb.ft)

  6. Remove the wiring bracket mounting bolt (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    9.8 - 11.8 N.m (1.0 - 1.2 kgf.m, 7.2 - 8.7 lb.ft)

  7. Remove the ground line after removing the bolt (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    26.5 - 32.4 N.m (2.7 - 3.3 kgf.m, 19.5 - 23.9 lb.ft)

  8. Remove the wiring fixing clip (A) from the bracket.

  9. Separate the ATF cooler hose (A).

  10. Remove the transaxle upper mounting bolts (A) and starter mounting bolt (B).

    Tightening torque: 

    1. (A): 42.2 - 53.9 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 - 39.8 lb.ft)
    2. (B): 49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb.ft)

  11. Assemble the engine support fixture on the engine room.

    (Refer to " ENGINE SUPPORT FIXTURE ASSEMBLY DRAWING  ")

  12. Remove the under cover.

    (Refer to " Removal and Installation  ") 

  13. Support the transaxle with a jack.

  14. Remove the cover (A).

  15. Remove the transaxle mounting bracket bolts (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    88.3 - 107.9 N.m (9.0 - 11.0 kgf.m, 65.1 - 79.6 lb.ft)

  16. Remove the transaxle support bracket (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    58.9 - 78.5 N.m (6.0 - 8.0 kgf.m, 43.4 - 57.9 lb.ft)

  17. Remove the drive shaft assembly.

    (Refer to " Removal  ") 

  18. Remove the sub frame.

    (Refer to " Removal  ") 

  19. Remove the roll rod support bracket (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    49.0 - 68.6 N.m (5.0 - 7.0 kgf.m, 36.2 - 50.6 lb.ft)

  20. Disconnect the electric oil pump connector (A).

  21. Remove the dust cover (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    42.2 - 48.1 N.m (4.3 - 4.9 kgf.m, 31.1 - 35.4 lb.ft)

  22. Remove the torque converter mounting bolts (A) by rotating the crankshaft in the clockwise.

    Tightening torque: 

    45.1 - 52.0 N.m (4.6 - 5.3 kgf.m, 33.3 - 38.3 lb.ft)

  23. Support the transaxle safely with a jack.

  24. Remove the starter mounting bolt (A).

    Tightening torque: 

    49.0 - 63.7 N.m (5.0 - 6.5 kgf.m, 36.2 - 47.0 lb.ft)

  25. Remove the transaxle lower mounting bolts (A, B).

    Tightening torque: 

    1. 39.2 - 46.1 N.m (4.0 - 4.7 kgf.m, 28.9 - 43.0 lb.ft)
    2. 42.2 - 54.0 N.m (4.3 - 5.5 kgf.m, 31.1 - 39.8 lb.ft)

  26. After separating the transaxle from the engine, remove the transaxle by lowering the jack slowly.

    NOTE: Be careful not to damage other nearby systems or parts when removing the transaxle assembly.
