Repair Procedures: Inspection

  1. The engine control system can be more quickly diagnosed for problems by using the KDS (Refer to "DTC INDEX ").
    1. Self diagnosis: Checking failure and Diagnosis Trouble Code (DTC)
    2. Data analysis: Checking the system input/output data state
    3. Actuation test: Checking the system operation condition.
    4. Software Management: Controlling other features including system option setting and Zero-Adjustment

Inspection component 

  1. Disconnect the battery negative (-) terminal.
  2. Disconnect the Heated Oxygen Sensor (HO2S) connector.
  3. Measure resistance between the HO2S terminals.

    Front:  Pin 4 to Pin 5

    Rear:  Pin 3 to Pin 4

    Terminal Function
    Front Rear
    1 Virtual Ground Signal
    2 Nernst Cell Voltage Ground
    3 Pumping Cell Voltage Heater (+)
    4 Heater (+) Heater (-)
    5 Heater (-) -
    6 Trim register -
  4. Compare the measured resistance with the specification.

    Specification: 

    Front: 2.8 - 4.5 Ω [18 - 28°C (64.4 - 82.4°F)]

    Rear: 5.4 - 6.6 Ω [18 - 28°C (64.4 - 82.4°F)]
