Removal & Installation - 3.5L V8 (1987 & 88)

  1. Disconnect battery negative terminal. The ECM is located under front right hand seat and is accessible through rear opening of seat base when seat is in its most forward position. Release ECM connector retaining clip. See Fig 1 . Pull rear of connector out of ECM.
  2. Maneuver front of connector (in direction of bold arrow) to release hooked rear end of connector from retaining peg. Release screws securing ECM to mounting bracket. Withdraw ECM from spring clip and remove it from vehicle.
  3. To install, install ECM securely in spring clip and tighten 2 screws. Reconnect ECM harness connector, ensure connector is firmly pushed into its location and that retaining clip secures connector in position.
