Test 2

  1. Switch the ignition ON (engine off). Connect voltmeter to points in the circuit indicated by V1 to V4 and make a note of the voltage readings. See Fig 1 . Readings for V1 should be more than 12 volts. Readings for V2 should be 1 volt maximum below volts at V1. Readings for V3 should be 1 volt maximum below volts at V1. Readings for V4 should be 0.0-0.1 volt.

  2. If all readings are correct, proceed to TEST 3  . If readings are incorrect, see Fig 2 . If coil and amplifier is suspected, disconnect low tension lead at coil, repeat V3. If voltage is still incorrect, fit new coil. If voltage is now correct, check low tension lead, if satisfactory fit new amplifier. If engine will not start proceed to TEST 3  .
