Checking Brake Fluid Level
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 1999 Land Rover Discovery. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
- Park vehicle on level surface. Turn ignition on. Brake pressure warning light should illuminate. If vehicle has been left standing, hydraulic pump should be heard to operate. If hydraulic pump is not heard, press brake pedal a few times to activate hydraulic pump. Wait until hydraulic pump stops and brake pressure warning light goes out, then go to next step.
- Check that brake fluid level is between the MIN and MAX marks. If fluid level is below the MIN mark, add enough fluid to bring level up to the MAX mark. Thoroughly clean brake fluid reservoir and cap before removing cap. DO NOT overfill reservoir.
