Self Leveling And Anti-Lock Brake System Electronic Control Unit (Slabs Ecu)

WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2000 Land Rover Discovery and 1999 Land Rover Discovery. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.

SLABS ECU controls, monitors and provides failure diagnostics for Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS), Electronic Brake Distribution (EBD), Electronic Traction Control (ETC) and Hill Descent Control (HDC) systems. On vehicles with optional Self Leveling System (SLS), the SLS CPU shares the same housing as the ABS CPU, even though the systems function independently. Manufacturer uses SLABS ECU terminology to refer to ABS ECU whether vehicle has SLS or not.

Based on wheel speed sensor input, SLABS ECU determines road speed and whether road is rough or smooth. Rough road signal is output to Engine Control Module (ECM) for use modifying misfire detection and evaporative emissions system control strategies. Road speed signal is output to ECM, cruise control module, active cornering enhancement, ICE tuner/amplifier, instrument cluster and air temperature control ECU.
