- Press and hold SET+ switch. Vehicle should accelerate smoothly until switch is released. When switch is released, vehicle should maintain new set speed. Allow speed to stabilize and go to next step.
- Momentarily press (less than 0.5 second) or tap SET+ switch. Vehicle speed should increase one MPH each time switch is tapped. On Discovery, 5 taps in a row will increase speed 5 MPH. On all vehicles, increase speed to more than 35 MPH. Allow speed to stabilize and go to next step.
- Press RES switch. Cruise control should disengage. Allow vehicle to slow to about 35 MPH, then press RES switch a second time (ensure accelerator is released). Vehicle should smoothly accelerate to previously set speed. Using accelerator pedal, increase vehicle speed, then release accelerator. Vehicle should return to previously set speed. Allow speed to stabilize and go to next step.
- Lightly press brake pedal. Cruise control should immediately disengage. Press RES switch. Vehicle should return to previously set speed. Allow speed to stabilize and go to next step.
- Press RES switch, and allow vehicle to decelerate to less than 26 MPH without using the brakes. Press RES switch again (ensure accelerator is released). Cruise control system should remain disengaged.
- With vehicle speed at about 28 MPH, press SET+ switch. Cruise control system should remain disengaged. Increase vehicle speed to more than 28 MPH, and press RES switch. Cruise control should engage, and vehicle speed should increase to previously set speed. Allow speed to stabilize and go to next step.
- On vehicles equipped with A/T, put gear selector in Neutral position. Cruise control system should disengage. On vehicles equipped with M/T, press clutch pedal. Cruise control system should disengage.
- On vehicles equipped with M/T, engage cruise control and cruise at 50 MPH. Press clutch pedal, put shift into Neutral, and release clutch pedal. Press RES switch and monitor engine speed (DO NOT allow engine to over-rev). Engine speed should increase to 4500-5500 RPM, cruise control system should disengage and engine speed should return to idle.
- Shift into a forward gear and increase speed to more than 28 MPH. Press RES switch. Vehicle speed should change to previously set speed. Press cruise control master on/off switch to off position. Cruise control system should disengage and erase previously set speed from memory.
