ISSUE
There are no requirements to update module software levels during the Pre Delivery Inspection (PDI) or later time in service, except in any of the following circumstances:
- As directed by JLR through a Recall, Update Prior To Sale Notice (UPSN) or other Field Service Actions.
- As guided when using a JLR approved diagnostic tool when a specific vehicle fault is present.
- When performing updates using Software Over The Air (SOTA).
CAUSE
Module software updates are not permitted at PDI using JLR approved diagnostic tools unless directed by JLR or confirmed vehicle failure fault.
ACTION
- Do not carry out module software updates at PDI unless defined by the exceptions above.
- Where an update has been performed, please provide clear evidence of the vehicle fault in a warranty claim.
NOTE:
- Any module software updates carried out where not specifically required may lead to a warranty claim being declined.
- Any Software Over The Air (SOTA) updates carried out as a requirement of the PDI are not affected by this SSM.
