System Operation: EDC
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2012 Land Rover Range Rover Sport and 2011 Land Rover Range Rover Sport. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
EDC prevents wheel slip caused by any of the following:
- A sudden decrease in engine torque when the accelerator is suddenly released.
- A downshift using the CommandShift™.
When the anti-lock brake system (ABS) module detects the onset of wheel slip without the brakes being applied, it signals the engine control module (ECM), on the high speed controller area network (CAN) bus, to request a momentary increase in engine torque.
