The front differential converts the 'angle of drive' through 90° and distributes drive, via the front drive halfshafts, to the front wheels.
The front differential is mounted on the left side of the engine. The differential casing is secured to the left side of the fluid pan. The right halfshaft passes through the fluid pan and is secured by the halfshaft support bracket which is bolted to the right side of the fluid pan.
