SERVICE INFORMATION

(Symptom 203000 Basic Electrical)

ISSUE

Land Rover are currently investigating BCMs (Body Control Modules) replaced for a non start condition. When returned to the supplier they are deemed NFF (No Fault Found)

CAUSE

Unknown

ACTION

If a vehicle be presented with the following symptoms you should follow the test procedure outlined below before considering any part replacements:-

Vehicle does not unlock using the key fob, then will not start after gaining entry with the key blade, the vehicle does NOT display the "Smart key not found" message Test procedure

NOTE: Evoque only - ensure the vehicle is not in transport mode (see illustration below)

Does the BCM have correct power and ground connections?

Record voltages at:-

BCM connector C583, pins 16, 20, 21, 22 (12V)

BCM connector C585, pins 05, 25 (0V)

Check the operation of the Hazard Flashers.

If they do operate outside the vehicle, but the vehicle still will not start, record a CAN trace, via CAN link monitor (refer to SSM 56157 )

If they do not operate outside the vehicle, perform a Network Integrity Test to check for other possible causes for failure.

If the above does not lead to issue resolution, raise a TA (Technical Assistance case) including the BCM serial number, (see illustration below), the voltages recorded at BCM pins, the behavior of the hazard flashers and the CAN log if applicable.

If a BCM is replaced submit an Epqr with all the relevant details. In all cases the part should be held for 7 days before returning to warranty, if the part is required for further investigation you will be informed via Epqr response.
