- The PCM's internal ADC is verified for correct operation through cyclically forcing a test pulse through the ADC, the low idle test pulse that is output from the ADC is checked for being updated at the ADC output within expected time frame, should the output not be updated the ADC has failed and the PCM must be replaced
- Connector is disconnected, connector pin is backed out, connector pin corrosion
- Powertrain control module failure
