P2170-4B: Exhaust Pressure Regulator Vent Solenoid Control Circuit Low - Over temperature: Action
- Vehicle Conditions to enable DTC Logging Strategy
- Inspect connectors for signs of water ingress, and pins for damage and/or corrosion
- Refer to the electrical circuit diagrams and check the active exhaust valve circuit for
- Check resistance of solenoid approximately 40 Ohms
- Fuse failure
- Check that the valve connector is powered when the PCM is powered (ignition ON)
- Short circuit to ground
- Short circuit to power
- Open circuit
- High resistance
- Start the engine and accelerate it through the rev range 800 RPM to 4000 RPM. The valve should be observed as switching open/closed if it is working correctly (observable from the tailpipe).
- Remove active exhaust valve and check that the valve is free to move by hand
- Install new active exhaust valve, only when diagnosed as failed
- Using the Jaguar Land Rover approved diagnostic equipment, clear all stored Diagnostic Trouble Codes and retest
