Introduction
Due to a mid-year production change to the 2002 model year Lexus Link System, the automated voice prompts have been improved to better inform the occupants of the status of their Lexus Link subscription.
The voice prompt has also been improved to help dealers identify the status of the Lexus Link System (Factory mode vs. Dealer mode).

2002 model year LS 430 vehicles produced before the VIN shown below.

Pre-Delivery Service Procedure
- Before Pre-Delivery Service, voice prompt will be in Japanese.
- After Pre-Delivery Service, voice prompt will be in English.
FACTORY MODE VOICE PROMPT (BEFORE PDS)

- Remove antenna from the glove box and install on the roof.
- Remove the tear-off label from the Lexus Link ECU and affix to the Lexus Link Services Subscription Agreement (SSA).
- Connect the Lexus Link back-up battery.
- Place the Lexus Link System into Dealer mode.
- To accomplish this, put the key in the ignition, and press and hold the "-VOL" button on the Lexus Link button module while cycling the ignition key ON and OFF 5 times within 15 seconds.
- Once the Lexus Link System is placed into Dealer mode, the voice prompt will change from Japanese to English when the ignition is turned to the ON position.
- Repeat step 4 if voice prompt is still in Japanese.
