Touch Sensor Circuit: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (TOUCH SENSOR) 
    1. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Turn the tester on.
    4. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Smart Access / Data List.
    5. Read the Data List according to the display on the tester.
      SMART ACCESS:

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      D Touch Sensor Status of touch sensor front LH/ON or OFF ON: Touch sensor is touched
      OFF: Touch sensor is not touched      		 -
      P Touch Sensor Status of touch sensor front RH/ON or OFF ON: Touch sensor is touched
      OFF: Touch sensor is not touched      		 -
      DR Touch Sensor Rear door touch sensor LH/ON or OFF ON: Sensor is touched
      OFF: Sensor is not touched      		 -
      PR Touch Sensor Rear door touch sensor RH/ON or OFF ON: Sensor is touched
      OFF: Sensor is not touched      		 -

      OK

      "ON" (screen is touched) or "OFF" (screen is not touched) appears on the tester screen.

    OK → PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 

    NG: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU - ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR) 
    1. Disconnect the E13 and E14 ECU connectors.

    2. Disconnect the oscillator connectors.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard resistance

      Front LH side 

      Front RH side 

      Rear LH side 

      Rear RH side 

      Tester Connection (Symbols) Condition Specified Condition
      E13-5 (SEL1) - a2-4 (SEL) Always Below 1 Ω
      E13-22 (SEN1) - a2-6 (SENS) Always Below 1 Ω
      E13-5 (SEL1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E13-22 (SEN1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      E13-6 (SEL2) - Z2-4 (SEL) Always Below 1 Ω
      E13-23 (SEN2) - Z2-6 (SENS) Always Below 1 Ω
      E13-6 (SEL2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E13-23 (SEN2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      E14-1 (SEL3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E14-28 (SEN3) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      E14-27 (SEN4) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK AND REPLACE ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR (CHECK OPERATION OF OSCILLATOR) 
    1. Replace the electrical key oscillator.
    2. Check that the entry UNLOCK function operates normally.

      OK

      Entry UNLOCK function operates normally.

    OK → END (ELECTRICAL KEY OSCILLATOR IS DEFECTIVE) 

    NG: Go to next step 

  4. INSPECT CERTIFICATION ECU 
    1. Reconnect the ECU and the oscillator connectors.

    2. Connect Techstream to the DLC3.
    3. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    4. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard voltage

      Front LH side 

      Front RH side 

      Rear LH side 

      Rear RH side 

      Tester Connection (Symbols) Condition Specified Condition
      E13-5 (SEL1) - Body ground Move the key more than 5 m (16.4 ft) away from the front door LH 10 to 14 V
      E13-5 (SEL1) - Body ground Bring key to the outside handle Below 1 V
      E13-22 (SEN1) - Body ground Front door LH outside handle is not held (Bring the electrical key to the outside handle) 10 to 14 V
      E13-22 (SEN1) - Body ground Front door LH outside handle is held Below 1 V

      E13-6 (SEL2) - Body ground Move the key more than 5 m (16.4 ft) away from the front door RH 10 to 14 V
      E13-6 (SEL2) - Body ground Bring key to the outside handle Below 1 V
      E13-23 (SEN2) - Body ground Front door RH outside handle is not held (Bring the electrical key to the outside handle) 10 to 14 V
      E13-23 (SEN2) - Body ground Front door RH outside handle is held Below 1 V

      E14-28 (SEN3) - Body ground Rear door LH outside handle is held Below 1 V

    NG → REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU 

    OK → PROCEED TO NEXT CIRCUIT INSPECTION SHOWN IN  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
