Steering Column Assembly: Installation: Installation

  1. INSTALL STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and the steering main shaft.

    2. Install the bolt.

      Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

  2. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the steering column assembly with the bolt and 2 nuts.

      Torque: 21 N*m (214 kgf*cm, 16 ft.*lbf) 

    2. Connect the connectors and wire harness clamps to the steering column assembly.
    3. Install the clamp to the steering column hole shield.

  3. CONNECT STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the matchmarks on the steering intermediate shaft assembly and the power steering link assembly.

    2. Install the bolt.

      Torque: 35 N*m (360 kgf*cm, 26 ft.*lbf) 

  4. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL LH 

    Torque: 103 N*m (1,050 kgf*cm, 76 ft.*lbf) 

  5. INSTALL NO. 1 AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Engage the 2 claws to install the No. 1 air duct sub-assembly.

  6. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  7. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering column assembly with the clamp.

    2. Connect the connectors to the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
  8. INSTALL TILT AND TELESCOPIC SWITCH 
    1. Engage the claw to install the tilt and telescopic switch.

    2. Connect the connector.
  9. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Engage the claw to install the upper steering column cover.

    2. Engage the 2 claws to install the lower steering column cover.

      NOTE:

      Do not damage the tilt and telescopic switch.

    3. Install the 2 screws.

      Torque: 2.0 N*m (20 kgf*cm, 18 in.*lbf) 

  10. ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 4
  11. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 
    1. Align the matchmarks on the steering wheel assembly and steering main shaft assembly.

    2. Install the steering wheel assembly set nut.

      Torque: 50 N*m (510 kgf*cm, 37 ft.*lbf) 

  12. INSTALL DRIVER SIDE KNEE AIRBAG ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  13. INSTALL LOWER INSTRUMENT PANEL SUB-ASSEMBLY  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 44
  14. INSTALL INSTRUMENT PANEL FINISH PANEL END LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 45
  15. INSTALL SIDE INSTRUMENT PANEL LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 46
  16. INSTALL FRONT DOOR OPENING TRIM COVER LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 42
  17. INSTALL FRONT DOOR SCUFF PLATE LH  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 43
  18. INSTALL STEERING PAD  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 1
  19. INSTALL NO. 3 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 2
  20. INSTALL NO. 2 LOWER STEERING WHEEL COVER  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 3
  21. PLACE FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  22. CONNECT CABLE TO NEGATIVE BATTERY TERMINAL 
    NOTE:
    • Make sure that the cable has been disconnected from the battery terminal for at least 2 seconds before reconnecting the cable.
    • Connect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal with the front wheels facing straight ahead.
    • When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected. Refer to INITIALIZATION .
    • Reset the AUTO TILT AWAY function setting to the previous condition by changing the customize parameter. Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS .
  23. INSPECT STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  24. INSPECT STEERING PAD  . Refer to INSTALLATION - Step 6
  25. INSPECT SRS WARNING LIGHT
