Back Door Entry Lock and Unlock Functions do not Operate: Procedure

  1. CHECK POWER DOOR LOCK OPERATION 
    1. When the door control switch of the master switch assembly is operated, check that the locked doors unlock.

      OK

      Door locks operate normally.

    NG → See step   10 

    OK: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK VEHICLE EQUIPMENT 
    1. Check if the power back door is equipped on the vehicle.
      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      w/ Power Back Door System A
      w/o Power Back Door System B

    B → See step   4 

    A: Go to next step 

  3. CHECK POWER BACK DOOR OPERATION 
    1. When the power back door switch is operated, check that the power back door open and close.

      OK

      Power back door is open and close.

      RESULT

      Result Proceed to
      NG A
      OK B

  4. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (DOOR LOCK POSITION SWITCH) 
    1. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Enter the following menus: Body Electrical / Main Body / Data List.
    4. Read the Data List according to the display on the Techstream.
      MAIN BODY

      Tester Display Measurement Item/Range Normal Condition Diagnostic Note
      Back Lock Pos switch Back door lock position switch signal / ON or OFF ON: Back door unlocked
      OFF: Back door locked
      -

      OK

      On the Techstream screen, the display changes between ON and OFF as shown in the chart above.

    NG → See step   13 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. READ VALUE USING TECHSTREAM (BACK DOOR LOCK SWITCH, BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH) 
    1. Using the Techstream, read the Data List.
      MAIN BODY

      Back Door Handle SW Back door opener switch / ON or OFF ON: Back door opener switch pushed
      OFF: Back door opener switch not pushed

      SMART ACCESS

      Tr/B-Door Lock SW Back door lock switch / ON or OFF ON: Back door lock switch pushed
      OFF: Back door lock switch not pushed

      OK

      "ON" (switch is pushed) and "OFF" (switch is not pushed) appears on the screen.

    NG → See step   9 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CERTIFICATION ECU [SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY] - OUTSIDE ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA) 
    1. Disconnect the E29 ECU connector.

    2. Disconnect the K23 antenna connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      E29-31 (CLG8) - K23-1 (CLG5) Always Below 1 Ω
      E29-32 (CG8B) - K23-2 (CLGB) Always Below 1 Ω
      E29-31 (CLG8) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      E29-32 (CG8B) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. REPLACE ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA (for Outside Luggage Compartment) 
    1. Replace the electrical key antenna (for outside luggage compartment). Refer to REMOVAL .

    NEXT: Go to next step 

  8. CHECK ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA (for Outside Luggage Compartment) OPERATION 
    1. Check that the entry functions operate normally.

      OK

      Entry functions operate normally.

    NG → REPLACE CERTIFICATION ECU (SMART KEY ECU ASSEMBLY) 

    OK → END (ELECTRICAL KEY ANTENNA [for Outside Luggage Compartment] IS DEFECTIVE) 

  9. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH - BODY GROUND) 
    1. Disconnect the S7 switch connector.

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      S7-2 (L) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK → See step   12 

  10. GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  11. GO TO POWER BACK DOOR SYSTEM. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE 
  12. REPLACE BACK DOOR OPENER SWITCH. Refer to  REMOVAL 
  13. GO TO POWER DOOR LOCK CONTROL SYSTEM (Proceed to Only Back Door LOCK/UNLOCK Functions do not Operate). Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE
