System Description

  1. DESCRIPTION 
    • LEXUS ENFORM is a service*1 that allows the vehicle to receive information from the XM radio satellite and the call center and links the information to the navigation system. LEXUS ENFORM permits the driver to use the received information, such as a destination information, weather information, sports news and stock information on the navigation system multi display. The equipment for receiving this service is installed as standard.*2
    • LEXUS ENFORM provides the following services: Destination Assist, eDestination, Lexus Insider, XM Nav Traffic, XM Nav Weather, XM Stocks, XM Sports, Maintenance Reminder, Voice Command, and Safety Connect. For details about Safety Connect, refer to Safety Connect System. Refer to SYSTEM DESCRIPTION .
    • LEXUS ENFORM consists mainly of a LEXUS ENFORM applicable navigation system (multi display), telematics transceiver (data communication module), XM antenna, telephone antenna, GPS antenna and microphone.

      HINT: 

      • *1: LEXUS ENFORM is a service available in the continental U.S., excluding Alaska and Hawaii. In addition, Canada, Mexico and unincorporated territories of the U.S. such as Puerto Rico are not included in the service area.
      • *2: The LEXUS ENFORM service requires a Safety Connect subscription. XM Nav Traffic and XM Nav Weather both require separate subscriptions to receive their services. XM Sports and XM Stocks are included with the XM Radio subscription if the vehicle is equipped with LEXUS ENFORM.
  2. SYSTEM FUNCTION 
    FUNCTION OF MAIN COMPONENTS

    Component Outline
    Telephone Microphone Assembly The user's voice is received by the microphone module.
    DCM (Telematics Transceiver)
    • Receives content information.
    • Connects to the call center when the destination assist service or eDestination service is active.
    • Sends the vehicle maintenance information signal to the call center.
    Display and navigation module display
    • Receives the XM satellite radio information signals from the XM tuner built into the radio receiver (distributed from the broadcast such as content information, stock price information, sports related news and weather information).
    • Sends, receives and outputs the microphone voice signal.
    Antenna Assembly Satellite Radio Antenna Receives the XM satellites radio signals.
    Telephone Antenna
    • This antenna is for a mobile phone. It is compatible with the transmission and reception of frequency bands of mobile phones.
    • Transmits signals from the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) and receives signals from the call center or other phones.
    GPS Antenna Receives the signals from the GPS satellites and transmits these signals to the DCM (Telematics Transceiver).
    Note the Navigation Module also has a GPS antenna used for LEXUS ENFORM service.
    Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly Sends the call center advisor's voice to the front speaker.
    Front Speaker Outputs the call center advisor's voice.
    Combination Meter Assembly Sends the vehicle information signal to the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) and to the multi display.
  3. SERVICES FUNCTION 
    Service Function
    Destination Assist
    • Downloads the user's desired destination information into the navigation system after the call center is told the destination.
    • Stores the information downloaded in the navigation system so the information can be reused as required.
    • Destination Assist is an in-vehicle service that allows subscribers to request directions to any location. Subscribers are connected to an agent through the Destination Assist soft key and may ask the agent to download the location of any destination to the navigation system in the vehicle. Agents are able to locate specific points of interest (POI's) by search terms, locate specific addresses, or provide Zagat-rated restaurants as Premium POI's. Agents are able to search for POI's using the distance from the vehicle, from a city, or from another POI. The vehicle device can store up to 5 POI's at a time, which can be added to the device queue as the first or last entry, or as a replacement for all entries.
    eDestination
    • Allows the user to edit the destination information stored in the call center database through the Lexus.com owners web site using a personal computer. The edited information can be wirelessly downloaded to the vehicle.
    • The destination information can be separated into a maximum of 20 folders. Each folder can save up to 10 items.
    Lexus Insider
    • Receives audio data content such as audio messages and articles, and allows the user to display, play and delete them on the vehicle audio system.
    • Receives non user-specific content distributed via XM satellite radio and receives any user-specific content via the DCM (Telematics Transceiver).
    XM Nav Traffic Displays traffic congestion information using icons, arrows and indicators on the navigation map according to the traffic information received via the XM satellite radio.
    XM Nav Weather
    • Displays weather information received via the XM satellite radio.
    • Gives weather warnings issued within approx. a 25 km (15.5 mile) radius of the vehicle location through voice and graphics.
    • Displays weather forecasts for 3 days when a city icon on the map is pressed or when the city name is selected from the list on the screen.
    XM Stocks
    • Displays stock price information received via the XM satellite radio.
    • Displays up to 10 user registered stock symbols and their price information.
    XM Sports
    • Displays sports related news received via the XM satellite radio.
    • Allows the user to register up to 5 teams.
    Maintenance Reminder Determines the maintenance timing recommended by dealers according to the vehicle mileage information signal that is sent from the DCM (Telematics Transceiver) to the call center, and certainly reminds the user of the timing.
    Voice Command A voice recognition command list is available in the navigation system. The user can operate the voice recognition system by pushing the voice recognition button and speaking commands that appear in the list.
  4. WARNING NOTIFICATION FUNCTION 
    NOTE:
    • Before performing inspections or repairs which may cause warning messages or DTC to occur, such as a simulation test or road test, it is necessary to activate warning notification restraint mode so that LEXUS ENFORM center does not recognize the warnings as real ones.
    • Warning notification restraint mode can be entered by using the intelligent tester or operating the display and navigation module display.

    HINT: 

    The warning notification function sends a warning message signal, received from the combination meter assembly via CAN communication, to LEXUS ENFORM center using LEXUS ENFORM device if a warning is displayed due to a vehicle malfunction.

    1. Warning notification restraint mode

      HINT: 

      • Performing the following procedure will select warning notification restraint mode.
      • After warning notification restraint mode is entered, driving the vehicle 10 km (6 mile) will cancel the mode.
      1. Warning notification restraint mode (Using the intelligent tester)
        1. Turn the power switch off.
        2. Connect the Techstream to the DLC3.
        3. Start the engine.
        4. Enter the following menus: Powertrain / Engine / DTC.
      2. Warning notification restraint mode (Operating the display and navigation module display)
        1. Enter diagnostic mode of the navigation system. Refer to DTC CHECK / CLEAR .
