DTC C1516, C1526: Torque Sensor Zero Point Adjustment Incomplete; Rotation Angle Sensor Initialization Incomplete: Procedure

  1. CLEAR DTC
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK/CLEAR .

    NEXT: Go to next step

  2. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR VALUE AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to CALIBRATION .

    NEXT: Go to next step

  3. CHECK FOR DTC
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK/CLEAR .

      Result

      Condition Proceed to
DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times*1. A
DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration once or twice*2. B
Normal system code is output. C

      HINT:

      • *1: The power steering ECU must be replaced if DTC C1516 or C1526 is still output even after the rotation angle sensor value initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration is performed 3 times.
      • *2: Perform the rotation angle sensor value initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration again if DTC C1516 or C1526 is still output even after the rotation angle sensor value initialization and calibration is performed once or twice.

    B → See step   9

    C → END

    A: Go to next step

  4. REPLACE POWER STEERING ECU
    1. Replace the power steering ECU. Refer to REMOVAL .

    NEXT: Go to next step

  5. CLEAR DTC
    1. Clear the DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK/CLEAR .

    NEXT: Go to next step

  6. INITIALIZE ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR VALUE AND CALIBRATE TORQUE SENSOR ZERO POINT
    1. Initialize the rotation angle sensor value and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to CALIBRATION .

    NEXT: Go to next step

  7. CHECK FOR DTC
    1. Check for DTCs. Refer to DTC CHECK/CLEAR .

      Result

      Condition Proceed to
DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times*1 (for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column). A
DTCs are still output after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration 3 times*1 (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column). B
DTCs are still output even after performing rotation angle sensor value initialization and steering zero point calibration twice*2. C
Normal system code is output. D

      HINT:

      • *1: The steering column assembly must be replaced if DTC C1516 or C1526 is still output even after the rotation angle sensor value initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration is performed 3 times.
      • *2: Perform the rotation angle sensor value initialization and torque sensor zero point calibration again if DTC C1516 or C1526 is still output even after the rotation angle sensor value initialization and calibration is performed twice.
NOTE: If replacing the steering column assembly, clear the rotation angle sensor calibration value, initialize the rotation angle sensor value, and calibrate the torque sensor zero point. Refer to CALIBRATION .

    B → See step   10

    C → See step   9

    D → END

    A → See step   8

  8. REPLACE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
  9. PERFORM ROTATION ANGLE SENSOR VALUE INITIALIZATION AND ZERO POINT CALIBRATION AGAIN. Refer to  CALIBRATION
  10. REPLACE STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL
