Microphone Circuit between Microphone and Navigation Receiver Assembly: Procedure

  1. CONFIRM MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

      Result

    A: Go to next step 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the J125 multi-media module receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the R5 map light assembly (telephone microphone assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J125-29 (MACC) - R5-15 (MACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      J125-27 (MIN+) - R5-16 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      J125-48 (MIN-) - R5-17 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      J125-49 (SNS2) - R5-6 (SNS2) Always Below 1 Ω
      J125-29 (MACC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J125-27 (MIN+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J125-48 (MIN-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J125-28 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J125-49 (SNS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the J125 multi-media module receiver assembly connector.
    2. Reconnect the R5 map light assembly (telephone microphone assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J125-29 (MACC) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC) 4 to 6 V
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J125-28 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      J125-48 (MIN-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    5. Proceed to the next step based on the inspection result.

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the J125 multi-media module receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the R5 map light assembly (telephone microphone assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J125-49 (SNS2) - R5-6 (SNS2) Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER)) 
    1. Disconnect the J125 multi-media module receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the J114 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J125-27 (MIN+) - J114-18 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      J125-48 (MIN-) - J114-19 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      J125-27 (MIN+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J125-48 (MIN-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J125-28 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY)) 
    1. Disconnect the J114 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the R5 map light assembly (telephone microphone assembly) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J114-33 (MCVD) - R5-15 (MACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      J114-34 (MCI+) - R5-16 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      J114-35 (MCI-) - R5-17 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      J114-33 (MCVD) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J114-34 (MCI+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J114-35 (MCI-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J114-32 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  7. INSPECT MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the J114 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Reconnect the J125 multi-media module receiver assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J125-28 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      J125-48 (MIN-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

    OK: Go to next step 

  8. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Reconnect the J114 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J114-33 (MCVD) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC) 4 to 6 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      J114-35 (MCI-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      J114-32 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  9. INSPECT MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Remove the map light assembly (telephone microphone assembly).
    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      17 (MCO-) - 6 (SNS2) Always Below 1 Ω

    NG → See step   11 

    OK: Go to next step 

  10. INSPECT MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY (TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Reconnect the J125 multi-media module receiver assembly connector.
    2. Reconnect the J114 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector (w/ Manual (SOS) Switch).
    3. Reconnect the R5 map light assembly (telephone microphone assembly) connector.
    4. Turn the engine switch on (ACC).
    5. Connect an oscilloscope to terminals 16 (MCO+) and 17 (MCO-) of the R5 map light assembly (telephone microphone assembly) connector.

    6. Check the waveform of the telephone microphone assembly using the oscilloscope.

      Result

  11. REPLACE TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the telephone microphone assembly. Refer to REMOVAL [08/2012 - ] .
    2. Check if the same malfunction recurs.

  12. REPLACE MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2012 - ] 
  13. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [08/2012 - ] 
  14. REPLACE MULTI-MEDIA MODULE RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2012 - ] 
  15. REPLACE DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER). Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2012 - ] 
  16. REPLACE MAP LIGHT ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [08/2012 - ]
