Mute Signal Circuit between Radio Receiver and Stereo Component Amplifier: Procedure

  1. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      O33-1 (MUTE) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC), audio system playing
      → Changing modes
      Above 3.5 V
      → Below 1 V
      TEXT IN ILLUSTRATION

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Stereo Component Amplifier Assembly)

    NG → See step   2 

    OK → See step   5 

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the G37 radio receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the O33 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G37-7 (MUT1) - O33-1 (MUTE) Always Below 1 Ω
      G37-7 (MUT1) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    NG → REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    OK: Go to next step 

  3. INSPECT STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY (OUTPUT SIGNAL) 
    1. Reconnect the O33 stereo component amplifier assembly connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G37-7 (MUT1) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC), audio system is playing Above 3.5 V

      *a Front view of wire harness connector
      (to Radio Receiver Assembly)

    NG → See step   4 

    OK → See step   6 

  4. REPLACE STEREO COMPONENT AMPLIFIER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2012 - 07/2012] 
  5. PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [03/2012 - 07/2012] 
  6. REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2012 - 07/2012]
