Installation [08/2015 - 10/2016]: Procedure

  1. INSTALL STEERING SLIDING YOKE SUB-ASSEMBLY (for 2WD) 
    1. w/o VGRS:
      1. Connect the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly to the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

        NOTE:

        Align the matchmarks on the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly and No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

      2. Temporarily install the bolt.
    2. w/ VGRS:
      1. Connect the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly to the steering actuator assembly.

        NOTE:

        Align the matchmarks on the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly and steering actuator assembly.

      2. Temporarily install the bolt.
  2. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  3. INSTALL NO. 2 STEERING INTERMEDIATE SHAFT ASSEMBLY (w/o VGRS) 
    1. for 2WD:
      1. Install the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly to the power steering link assembly.

        NOTE:

        Align the matchmarks on the steering sliding yoke sub-assembly and power steering link assembly.

      2. Install the bolt.

        Torque: 35.3 N.m (360 kgf/cm, 26 ft.lbf)

      3. Tighten the clamp.
    2. for AWD:
      1. Install the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly to the power steering link assembly.

        NOTE:

        Align the matchmarks on the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly and power steering link assembly.

      2. Install the bolt.

        Torque: 35.3 N.m (360 kgf/cm, 26 ft.lbf)

      3. Tighten the clamp.
  4. INSTALL STEERING ACTUATOR ASSEMBLY (w/ VGRS) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 3

  5. INSTALL LOWER MAIN SHAFT DUST COVER (w/ VGRS) 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 4

  6. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY 
    1. w/o VGRS:
      1. Install the steering column assembly to the No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

        NOTE:

        Align the matchmarks on the steering column assembly and No. 2 steering intermediate shaft assembly.

    2. w/ VGRS:
      1. Install the steering column assembly to the steering actuator assembly.

        NOTE:

        Align the matchmarks on the steering column assembly and steering actuator assembly.

    3. Install the steering column assembly with the 4 nuts.

      for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column 

      Torque: 21 N.m (214 kgf/cm, 15 ft.lbf) 

      for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column 

      Torque: 25.5 N.m (260 kgf/cm, 19 ft.lbf) 

    4. w/o VGRS:
      1. Install the bolt.

        Torque: 35.3 N.m (360 kgf/cm, 26 ft.lbf)

      2. Install the brake pedal return spring to the push rod pin and steering column assembly.
    5. w/ VGRS:
      1. Install the bolt.

        Torque: 35.3 N.m (360 kgf/cm, 26 ft.lbf)

      2. Install the brake pedal return spring to the push rod pin and steering column assembly.
    6. Connect each connector and engage each wire harness clamp to the steering column assembly.
    7. for 2WD:
      1. Fully tighten the bolt.

        Torque: 35.3 N.m (360 kgf/cm, 26 ft.lbf) 

  7. INSTALL NO. 2 ENGINE UNDER COVER (for 2WD w/ No. 2 Engine Under Cover) 

    for 8AR-FTS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 77

    for 2GR-FSE: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 101

  8. INSTALL FRONT SUSPENSION MEMBER BRACE (for 2WD) 

    for 8AR-FTS: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 77

    for 2GR-FSE: Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 101

  9. INSTALL FRONT WHEEL LH (for AWD) 

    Torque: 103 N.m (1050 kgf/cm, 76 ft.lbf) 

  10. INSTALL AIR DUCT SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Install the air duct sub-assembly with the bolt.

      Torque: 9.8 N.m (100 kgf/cm, 87 in.lbf) 

  11. INSTALL LOWER NO. 1 INSTRUMENT PANEL AIRBAG ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [04/2013 - 09/2020]

  12. INSTALL TURN SIGNAL SWITCH ASSEMBLY WITH SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    NOTE:
    • Do not replace the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).
    • Do not rotate the spiral cable with sensor sub-assembly without the steering wheel assembly with the battery connected and the engine switch on (IG).
    • Ensure that the steering wheel assembly is installed and aligned straight when inspecting the steering sensor.
    1. Engage the 3 claws to install the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly to the steering column assembly.
    2. Connect the each connector to the turn signal switch assembly with spiral cable sub-assembly.
  13. INSTALL STEERING COLUMN COVER 
    1. Engage the 2 claws to install the steering column cover (upper).
    2. Engage the 6 clips to the steering column cover (upper).
    3. for Manual Tilt and Manual Telescopic Steering Column:
      1. Engage the 3 claws to install the steering column cover (lower).
      2. Install the 2 screws.
    4. for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column:
      1. Engage the 2 claws to install the steering column cover (lower).
      2. Install the 3 screws.
  14. ALIGN FRONT WHEELS FACING STRAIGHT AHEAD 
  15. INSPECT AND ADJUST SPIRAL CABLE WITH SENSOR SUB-ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to PROCEDURE - Step 6

  16. INSTALL STEERING WHEEL ASSEMBLY 

    See step  9

  17. CHECK STEERING WHEEL CENTER POINT 
  18. INSTALL HORN BUTTON ASSEMBLY 

    Refer to INSTALLATION [04/2013 - ]

  19. CUSTOMIZE POWER TILT AND POWER TELESCOPIC STEERING COLUMN SYSTEM (for Power Tilt and Power Telescopic Steering Column) 
    1. Reset the auto tilt away function setting to the previous condition by changing the customize parameter.

      Refer to CUSTOMIZE PARAMETERS [04/2013 - ]

  20. PERFORM VARIABLE GEAR RATIO STEERING SYSTEM CALIBRATION (w/ VGRS) 

    Refer to CALIBRATION [04/2013 - 10/2016]

  21. ADJUST PARKING ASSIST MONITOR SYSTEM (w/ Parking Assist Monitor System) 

    Refer to CALIBRATION [06/2014 - 09/2020]
