Steering Pad Switch Circuit [10/2014 - 09/2017]: Procedure

  1. SYSTEM CHECK 
    1. Confirm the vehicle specification.

  2. INSPECT STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY (LANE DEPARTURE ALERT MAIN SWITCH) 
    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly (Lane Departure Alert Main Switch).

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017]

    2. Inspect the steering pad switch assembly (Lane Departure Alert Main Switch).

      Refer to INSPECTION [10/2014 - 09/2016] Refer to INSPECTION [09/2016 - 09/2017]

      Result

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE STEERING PAD SWITCH ASSEMBLY (LANE DEPARTURE ALERT MAIN SWITCH). Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017]

  3. INSPECT SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017]

    2. Inspect the spiral cable sub-assembly.

      Refer to INSPECTION [10/2014 - 09/2017]

    REPLACE SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017]

  4. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (SPIRAL CABLE SUB-ASSEMBLY - LANE DEPARTURE WARNING CAMERA AND DRIVING SUPPORT ECU ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the I4 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the T10 lane departure warning camera connector.
    3. Disconnect the I19 driving support ECU assembly connector.
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I4-12 (DIST) - T10-4 (LKSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      I4-2 (ECC) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      I4-12 (DIST) - I19-6 (SPSW) Always Below 1 Ω
      I4-12 (DIST) or T10-4 (LKSW) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  5. REPLACE DRIVING SUPPORT ECU ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the driving support ECU assembly with a new one.

  6. CHECK LANE DEPARTURE ALERT SYSTEM (LANE DEPARTURE ALERT INDICATOR LIGHT) 
    1. Check that the lane departure alert indicator light illuminates on the combination meter assembly when the lane departure alert system is turned on the lane departure alert main switch.

    1. Remove the steering pad switch assembly (Lane Departure Alert Main Switch).

      Refer to REMOVAL [10/2014 - 09/2017]

    2. Inspect the steering pad switch assembly (Lane Departure Alert Main Switch).

      Refer to INSPECTION [10/2014 - 09/2016] Refer to INSPECTION [09/2016 - 09/2017]

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      I4-12 (DIST) - T10-4 (LKSW) Always Below 1 Ω

    1. Disconnect the I4 spiral cable sub-assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the A35 ECM connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      I4-2 (ECC) - A35-41 (ECCS) Always Below 1 Ω
      I4-2 (ECC) or A35-41 (ECCS) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
