Restraints Occupant Classification System Module Communication Stop Mode [03/2017 - 05/2023]: Procedure

  1. CHECK FOR OPEN IN CAN BUS WIRE (OCCUPANT DETECTION ECU BRANCH WIRE) 
    1. Disconnect the cable from the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 90 seconds.
    2. Disconnect the occupant detection ECU connector.

      (to Occupant Detection ECU)
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      v15-5 (CANH) - v15-4 (CANL) Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal 54 to 69 Ω

      Result

      Result 
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE CAN BRANCH WIRE AND CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (POWER SOURCE CIRCUIT) 
    1. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (to Occupant Detection ECU)

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      v15-10 (GND) - Body ground Cable disconnected from negative (-) battery terminal Below 1 Ω
    2. Reconnect the cable to the negative (-) battery terminal, and wait for at least 2 seconds.
      NOTE:

      When disconnecting the cable, some systems need to be initialized after the cable is reconnected.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [03/2017 - 04/2020] , or refer to INITIALIZATION [04/2020 - 05/2023]

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      v15-6 (IG2) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 11 to 14 V
      Engine switch off Below 1 V

      Result

      Result 
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE OCCUPANT DETECTION ECU. Refer to  REMOVAL [03/2017 - 05/2023] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPLACE HARNESS AND CONNECTOR
