DTC B16A2: Lost Communication with Pedestrian Protection Sensor Bus RH; DTC B16A3: Pedestrian Protection Sensor Bus Initialization Incomplete (RH) [12/2017 - 10/2020]: Description

The pedestrian detection sensor RH circuit consists of the pedestrian detection ECU assembly and pedestrian protection sensor RH.

The pedestrian protection sensor RH detects impacts to the vehicle and sends signals to the pedestrian detection ECU assembly to determine if the pop up hood should be deployed.

These DTCs are stored when a malfunction is detected in the pedestrian detection sensor RH circuit.

DTC No. Detection Item DTC Detection Condition Trouble Area Warning Indicate Test Mode / Check Mode
B16A2 Lost Communication with Pedestrian Protection Sensor Bus RH One of the following conditions is met:
  • The pedestrian detection ECU assembly detects a line short circuit signal, open circuit signal, short circuit to ground signal or short circuit to B+ signal in the circuit for the pedestrian detection sensor RH for 2 seconds.
  • A pedestrian detection sensor RH malfunction.
  • A pedestrian detection ECU assembly malfunction.
  • Instrument panel wire
  • Engine room main wire
  • Pedestrian detection chamber assembly (pedestrian protection sensor RH)
  • Pedestrian detection ECU assembly
