DTC P1342: Camshaft Position Sensor "A" Low Input (MRE); DTC P1343: Camshaft Position Sensor "A" High Input (MRE) [07/2020 - ]: Procedure

  1. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR

    *a Front view of wire harness connector
    (to Camshaft Position Sensor)
    1. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.
    2. Turn the engine switch on (IG).
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G66-3 (VC) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 4.5 to 5.5 V
      G66-1 (G22+) - Body ground Engine switch on (IG) 3.0 to 5.5 V
    4. Turn the engine switch off and wait for at least 30 seconds.
    5. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Switch Condition Specified Condition
      G66-3(VC) - G66-1(G22+) IG OFF 1.425 to 1.575 kΩ
      G66-2(G22-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    See step  2

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (CAMSHAFT POSITION SENSOR - ECM) 
    1. Disconnect the VVT sensor (for intake camshaft) connectors.
    2. Disconnect the ECM connector.
    3. Disconnect the crankshaft position sensor connector.
    4. Disconnect the VVT sensor (for exhaust camshaft) connectors.
    5. Disconnect the camshaft position sensor connector.
    6. Disconnect the canister pump module connector.
    7. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      G66-3 (VC) - G42-90 (VC) Always Below 1 Ω
      G66-1 (G22+) - G42-133 (G2+) Always Below 1 Ω
      G66-2 (G22-) - G42-101 (G2-) Always Below 1 Ω
      G66-3 (VC) or G42-90 (VC) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G66-1 (G22+) or G42-133 (G2+) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher
      G66-2 (G22-) or G42-101 (G2-) - Body ground and other terminals Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [07/2020 - 05/2023]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [05/2023 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
