Microphone Circuit between Microphone and Navigation Receiver Assembly [09/2015 - 08/2019]: Procedure

  1. CHECK MICROPHONE (OPERATION CHECK) 
    1. Enter the "Microphone Check" screen. Refer to Check Microphone in Operation Check.

      Refer to OPERATION CHECK [09/2015 - 12/2017] , or refer to OPERATION CHECK [12/2017 - 08/2019]

    2. When a voice is input into the microphone, check that the microphone input level meter changes according to the input voice.
    3. Select the recording switch and perform voice recording.

      HINT: 

      • Select the recording switch with the blower motor of the air conditioning system stopped. If an outlet of the air conditioning system is facing the microphone, noise may be recorded.
      • Voice can be recorded for up to 5 seconds.
    4. Check that the recording indicator remains on while recording and that the recorded voice is played normally without noise or distortion.

      OK

      All check results are normal.

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the J50 radio receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the U15 telephone microphone assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J50-49 (SNS2) - U15-3 (SNS2) Always Below 1 Ω
      J50-29 (MACC) - U15-1 (MACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      J50-27 (MIN+) - U15-2 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      J50-48 (MIN-) - U15-4 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      J50-49 (SNS2) or U15-3 (SNS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J50-29 (MACC) or U15-1 (MACC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J50-27 (MIN+) or U15-2 (MCO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J50-48 (MIN-) or U15-4 (MCO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J50-28 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  4. INSPECT RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the J50 radio receiver assembly connector.
    2. Reconnect the U15 telephone microphone assembly connector.
    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J50-29 (MACC) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC) 4 to 6 V
    4. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      J50-28 (SGND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      J50-48 (MIN-) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

  5. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the J50 radio receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the U15 telephone microphone assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J50-49 (SNS2) - U15-3 (SNS2) Always Below 1 Ω
      J50-49 (SNS2) or U15-3 (SNS2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER)) 
    1. Disconnect the J50 radio receiver assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the J62 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J50-27 (MIN+) - J62-18 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      J50-48 (MIN-) - J62-19 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      J50-27 (MIN+) or J62-18 (MCO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J50-48 (MIN-) or J62-19 (MCO-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J50-28 (SGND) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  7. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) - TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the J62 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Disconnect the U15 telephone microphone assembly connector.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J62-33 (MCVD) - U15-1 (MACC) Always Below 1 Ω
      J62-34 (MCI+) - U15-2 (MCO+) Always Below 1 Ω
      J62-35 (MCI-) - U15-4 (MCO-) Always Below 1 Ω
      J62-33 (MCVD) or U15-1 (MACC) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      J62-34 (MCI+) or U15-2 (MCO+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  8. INSPECT RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Disconnect the J62 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Reconnect the J50 radio receiver assembly connector.

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

  9. INSPECT DCM (TELEMATICS TRANSCEIVER) 
    1. Reconnect the J62 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector.
    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      (DCM (Telematics Transceiver))

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J62-33 (MCVD) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC) 4 to 6 V
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

  10. INSPECT TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Remove the telephone microphone assembly.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - 08/2016] , or refer to REMOVAL [08/2016 - 12/2017] , or refer to REMOVAL [12/2017 - 08/2019]

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

    REPLACE TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2015 - 08/2016]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2016 - 12/2017]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2017 - 08/2019]

  11. INSPECT TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY 
    1. Reconnect the J50 radio receiver assembly connector.
    2. Reconnect the U15 telephone microphone assembly connector.
    3. Reconnect the J62 DCM (telematics transceiver) connector (w/ DCM (Telematics Transceiver)).
    4. Turn the engine switch on (ACC).
    5. Connect an oscilloscope to terminals 2 (MCO+) and 4 (MCO-) of the U15 telephone microphone assembly connector.

    6. Check the waveform of the telephone microphone assembly using the oscilloscope.

      Result

    REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2015 - 08/2016]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2016 - 08/2019]

    REPLACE TELEPHONE MICROPHONE ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2015 - 08/2016]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2016 - 12/2017]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [12/2017 - 08/2019]
