Visual Mute Signal Circuit between Navigation Receiver Assembly and Multi-display [09/2015 - 08/2019]: Procedure

  1. CHECK MODEL 
    1. Choose the model to be inspected.

  2. INSPECT MULTI-DISPLAY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J56-11 (VMTI) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC), screen display changes 3.5 V or higher
      → Below 1 V
      → 3.5 V or higher

      *a Component with harness connected
      (Multi-display Assembly)

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    OK 

    PROCEED TO NEXT SUSPECTED AREA SHOWN IN PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE. Refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [09/2015 - 12/2017]  , or refer to  PROBLEM SYMPTOMS TABLE [12/2017 - 08/2019]

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - MULTI-DISPLAY ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the J56 multi-display assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the J50 radio receiver assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J50-10 (VMTF) - J56-11 (VMTI) Always Below 1 Ω
      J50-10 (VMTF) or J56-11 (VMTI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR 

    Result: 

    OK

  4. REPLACE MULTI-DISPLAY ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the multi-display assembly with a new or known good one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - 08/2019]

    2. Check that the screen display is normal.

      OK

      Screen display is normal.

      Result

      Proceed to

      NG

    Result:

    REPLACE RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY. Refer to  REMOVAL [09/2015 - 08/2016]  , or refer to  REMOVAL [08/2016 - 08/2019] 

  5. INSPECT ACCESSORY METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J56-11 (VMTI) - Body ground Engine switch on (ACC), screen display changes 3.5 V or higher
      → Below 1 V
      → 3.5 V or higher

      (Accessory Meter Assembly)

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (RADIO RECEIVER ASSEMBLY - ACCESSORY METER ASSEMBLY) 
    1. Disconnect the J56 accessory meter assembly connector.
    2. Disconnect the J50 radio receiver assembly.
    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      J50-10 (VMTF) - J56-11 (VMTI) Always Below 1 Ω
      J50-10 (VMTF) or J56-11 (VMTI) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      Result

      Proceed to

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR

    OK

  7. REPLACE ACCESSORY METER ASSEMBLY 
    1. Replace the accessory meter assembly with a new or known good one.

      Refer to REMOVAL [09/2015 - 08/2019]

    2. Check that the screen display is normal.

      OK

      Screen display is normal.
