DTC B2611-96: Telescopic Position Sensor or Telescopic Motor Circuit Component Internal Failure [11/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. PERFORM ACTIVE TEST USING GTS (TELESCOPIC MOTOR) 
    1. Check that the steering column contracts and extends.

      Body Electrical > Tilt&Telescopic > Active Test

      The steering column contracts and extends.

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU - TELESCOPIC POSITION SENSOR (STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY)) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Disconnect the D45 multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the D46 telescopic motor (steering column assembly) connector.

      Procedure1

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D45-14 (VCE) - D46-6 (VCE) Always Below 1 Ω
      D45-15 (TES) - D46-7 (TES) Always Below 1 Ω
      D45-17 (E2) - D46-8 (E2) Always Below 1 Ω
      D45-14 (VCE) or D46-6 (VCE) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D45-15 (TES) or D46-7 (TES) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D45-17 (E2) or D46-8 (E2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

  3. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU - BODY GROUND) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Disconnect the D45 multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU connector.

      Procedure1

    2. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D45-1 (GND) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω
      D45-8 (GND2) - Body ground Always Below 1 Ω

      Result

      Proceed to
      OK
      NG

  4. CHECK MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU (VCE, TES TERMINAL VOLTAGE) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Reconnect the D45 multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the D46 telescopic motor (steering column assembly) connector.

      Procedure1

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D45-14 (VCE) - D45-17 (E2) Ignition switch ON 8 to 14 V
      D45-15 (TES) - D45-17 (E2) Ignition switch ON 8 to 14 V

  5. CHECK TELESCOPIC POSITION SENSOR (STEERING COLUMN ASSEMBLY) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Reconnect the D45 multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU connector.
    2. Reconnect the D46 telescopic motor (steering column assembly) connector.

      Procedure1

    3. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D46-7 (TES) - D46-8 (E2) Steering column contracting or extending Pulse generation
      High: 8 to 14 V
      Low: Below 1 V

  6. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (MULTIPLEX TILT AND TELESCOPIC ECU - AUXILIARY BATTERY) 

    Pre-procedure1

    1. Disconnect the D45 multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU connector.

      Procedure1

    2. Measure the voltage according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Voltage

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D45-2 (+B) - Body ground Ignition switch off 11 to 14 V

    1. Disconnect the D45 multiplex tilt and telescopic ECU connector.
    2. Disconnect the D46 telescopic motor (steering column assembly) connector.

      Procedure1

    3. Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      D45-6 (TEM+) - D46-4 (TEM+) Always Below 1 Ω
      D45-19 (TEM-) - D46-1 (TEM-) Always Below 1 Ω
      D45-6 (TEM+) or D46-4 (TEM+) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
      D45-19 (TEM-) or D46-1 (TEM-) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher
