DTC P0220-11: Throttle/Pedal Position Sensor/Switch "B" Circuit Short to Ground [12/2021 - ]: Procedure

  1. READ VALUE USING GTS (THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR NO. 2 VOLTAGE) 
    1. Read the values displayed on the GTS.

      Powertrain > Engine > Data List 

      Tester Display
      Throttle Position Sensor No. 2 Voltage
    2. Disconnect the throttle body with motor assembly connector.
    3. Compare the value of the Data List item Throttle Position Sensor No. 2 Voltage after disconnecting the throttle body with motor assembly connector to the value when the connector was connected.

      Result

      Result Proceed to
      Changes from less than 2.05 V to higher than 4.75 V A
      Does not change from less than 2.05 V B

      HINT: 

      Perform "Inspection After Repair" after replacing the throttle body with motor assembly.

      Refer to INITIALIZATION [12/2021 - ]

    Result: 

    REPLACE THROTTLE BODY WITH MOTOR ASSEMBLY (THROTTLE WITH THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR BODY ASSEMBLY). Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2021 - ]

  2. CHECK HARNESS AND CONNECTOR (THROTTLE POSITION SENSOR - ECM) 

    Pre-procedure1

    • Disconnect the throttle body with motor assembly connector.
    • Disconnect the ECM connector.
    • Measure the resistance according to the value(s) in the table below.

      Standard Resistance

      Tester Connection Condition Specified Condition
      C177-2 (VC) - C37-117 (VCTA) Always Below 1 Ω
      C177-3 (VTA2) or C37-93 (VTA2) - Body ground Always 10 kΩ or higher

      NG

    Post-procedure1

    • None

    Result: 

    OK 

    REPLACE ECM. Refer to  REMOVAL [12/2021 - ] 

    Result: 

    NG 

    REPAIR OR REPLACE HARNESS OR CONNECTOR
