Pinpoint Test C: The Transmission Control Module (TCM) Does Not Respond To The Diagnostic Tool - Continuously Variable Transaxle (CVT): Testing

  1. C1 CHECK THE TCM C199 FOR DAMAGE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: TCM C199.
    • Inspect the TCM C199 for damage.
    • Is the TCM C199 OK? 
  2. C2 CHECK HIGH SPEED CONTROLLER AREA NETWORK (CAN) CIRCUIT 1908 (WH) AND 1909 (BK) BETWEEN DATA LINK CONNECTOR (DLC) C251 AND TCM C199 FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the resistance between the TCM C199-6, circuit 1908 (WH), harness side and the DLC C251-6, circuit 1908 (WH), harness side; and between the TCM C199-2, circuit 1909 (BK), harness side and the DLC C251-14, circuit 1909 (BK), harness side.

    • Are the resistances less than 5 ohms? 
  3. C3 CHECK FOR CORRECT TCM OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all the TCM connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all the TCM connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present?
