Pcm Security Access Procedure

  1. Connect scan tool to Data Link Connector (DLC). DLC is located under center of dash panel. For vehicles with automatic transmission, go to next step. For vehicles with manual transmission, go to step  3.
  2. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, select ICM. Select ENTER SECURITY ACCESS. Wait 10 minutes for security access to be granted. Select PARAMETER RESET. Disconnect scan tool. Turn ignition off, then on, then off again. Remove key from ignition. Road test vehicle to verify repair.
  3. NOTE: Steering Column Lock (SCL) actuator will only allow communication with scan tool after SCL actuator has been activated. To activate SCL actuator, open driver's door and DO NOT put key in ignition, or alternatively, you can press any button on key fob while key is not in ignition. SCL actuator will stay activated for 30 minutes after driver door is opened, or key fob button is pressed.
  4. Ensure ignition is off. Using scan tool, access SCLM. Select ENTER SECURITY ACCESS and wait 8 minutes for security access to be granted. Select PARAMETER RESET. Turn ignition on. Using scan tool, access ICM. Select ENTER SECURITY ACCESS and wait 10 minutes for security access to be granted. Select RESET SCLM PARAMETER. Select PARAMETER RESET. Disconnect scan tool. Turn ignition off, then on, then off again. Remove key from ignition. Road test vehicle to verify repair.
