Pinpoint Test A: No Communication With The Variable Assist Power Steering (VAPS) Module/Unable To Enter Self-Test
CAUTION:
Use the Flex Probe Kit for all test connections to prevent damage to the wiring terminals. Do not use standard multimeter probes.
- A1 CHECK THE VOLTAGE TO THE FRONT ELECTRONIC MODULE (FEM) MODULE
- Key in OFF position.
- Disconnect: VAPS Module C2231a.
- Key in ON position.
- Measure the voltage between the VAPS module C2231a. and C2231a-7, circuit 1001 (WH/YE), harness side and ground and between the VAPS module C2231a-2, circuit 1003 (GY/YE) harness side and ground.
- Are the voltages greater than 10 volts?
- Yes : GO to A2.
- No : REPAIR the circuit in question. REPEAT the self-test.
- A2 CHECK THE VAPS MODULE GROUND
- Key in OFF position.
- Measure the resistance between the VAPS module C2231a-12, circuit 1205 (BK), harness side, and ground.
- Is the resistance less than 5 ohms?
- Yes : CHECK the DLC connector and wiring. refer to MODULE COMMUNICATIONS NETWORK article .
- No : REPAIR the circuit. REPEAT the self-test.
