Pinpoint Test G: DTC B2268 Or DTC B2269 - Steering Wheel Auxiliary Control Switch Open Circuit Or Short To Ground

  1. G1 CHECK THE INPUT TO THE DATC MODULE 
    • Key in OFF position.
    • Disconnect: DATC Module C228b.
    • Measure the resistance between the DATC module C228b-7, circuit 1070 (BN/LB) and ground.

    • Is the resistance reading between 4,500 and 5,000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to  G2.
    • No  : If the resistance is less than 4,500 ohms, GO to  G3.

      If the resistance is greater than 5,000 ohms, GO to  G4.

  2. G2 CHECK THE STEERING WHEEL AUXILIARY CONTROL SWITCH OUTPUT 
    • Measure the resistance between the DATC module C228b-7, circuit 1070 (BN/LB) and ground.

    • Press each steering wheel auxiliary control switch and compare the resistance reading to the chart below.
      STEERING WHEEL AUXILIARY CONTROL SWITCH RESISTANCE SPECIFICATIONS

      Switch Resistance (ohms)
      TEMP UP 379-387
      TEMP DOWN 1695-1730
      NO FUNCTION 4468-4558
    • Are the resistance readings within the range? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new DATC module. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : INSTALL a new steering wheel auxiliary control switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
  3. G3 CHECK CIRCUIT 1070 (BN/LB) FOR A SHORT TO GROUND 
    • Disconnect: Steering Wheel Control Switch.
    • Measure the resistance between the DATC module C228b-7, circuit 1070 (BN/LB) and ground.

    • Is the resistance reading less than 10,000 ohms? 
    • Yes  : REPAIR circuit 1070 (BN/LB) for a short to ground. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : INSTALL a new steering wheel auxiliary control switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
  4. G4 CHECK CIRCUIT 1070 (BN/LB) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Disconnect: Steering Wheel Auxiliary Control Switch.
    • Measure the resistance between the DATC module C228b-7, circuit 1070 (BN/LB) and the steering wheel auxiliary control switch connector (LB/RD).

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : GO to  G5.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit 1070 (BN/LB) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
  5. G5 CHECK CIRCUIT 57 (BK) FOR AN OPEN 
    • Measure the resistance between the steering wheel auxiliary control switch, circuit 57 (BK) and ground.

    • Is the resistance less than 5 ohms? 
    • Yes  : INSTALL a new steering wheel auxiliary control switch. TEST the system for normal operation.
    • No  : REPAIR circuit 57 (BK) for an open. TEST the system for normal operation.
