All-Wheel Drive (AWD) Control Module

The one speed AWD system uses a fully automatic, torque on demand (TOD) transfer case without a shift motor. The AWD system is controlled by the AWD control module, which is located in the center console toward the instrument panel. The AWD control module is on the universal asynchronous receiver-transmitter (UART)-based protocol (UBP) communications network. The AWD control module engages and disengages the transfer case between 2-wheel drive (2WD) and AWD when more traction is required. For additional information, refer to FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE SYSTEMS .
