Pinpoint Test I: The Illuminated Entry Is Inoperative When Using The Remote Transmitter/Keypad

  1. I1 CHECK THE DOOR LOCKS 
    • Using the RKE transmitter or remote keypad, lock and unlock the doors.
    • Do the locks operate correctly using the RKE transmitter or remote keypad? 

    Yes:  GO to  I2.

    No:  REFER to PINPOINT TEST F: THE DOORS DO NOT LOCK/UNLOCK USING THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) TRANSMITTER to continue diagnosis of the RKE system.

  2. I2 CHECK THE OPERATION OF THE INTERIOR LAMPS 
    • Open the driver door.
    • Do the interior lamps illuminate? 

    Yes:  If the vehicle is equipped with autolamps, GO to  I3.

    If the vehicle is not equipped with autolamps, GO to  I4.

    No:  REFER to PINPOINT TEST L: THE REMOTE KEYLESS ENTRY (RKE) KEYPAD ILLUMINATION IS INOPERATIVE to continue diagnosis of the keyless entry keypad system.

  3. I3 CHECK THE AUTOLAMP SYSTEM 
    • Key in ON position.
    • Place the headlamp switch in the AUTOLAMPS ON position.
    • Apply a light source to the light sensor for 10 seconds, then cover the light sensor and wait 10 seconds.
    • Are the exterior lamps off with the light applied and on when the light sensor is covered? 

    Yes:  GO to  I4.

    No:  REFER to AUTOLAMPS to continue diagnosis of the autolamp system.

  4. I4 CHECK FOR CORRECT SJB OPERATION 
    • Disconnect all SJB connectors.
    • Check for:
      • corrosion
      • pushed-out pins
    • Connect all SJB connectors and make sure they seat correctly.
    • Operate the system and verify the concern is still present.
    • Is the concern still present? 

    Yes:  INSTALL a new SJB. REFER to REMOVAL AND INSTALLATION . TEST the system for normal operation.

    No:  The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by a loose or corroded connector.
