Pinpoint Test G: The HUD Module Is Inoperative

  1. G1 CHECK FOR HUD MODULE LED PROVE OUT TEST 
    NOTE: Remove the vehicle from the extreme heat source or sunload condition prior to testing the vehicle.
    • Ignition ON.
    • While placing the ignition switch in RUN, observe the HUD module LEDs.

    Do the HUD module LEDs illuminate? 

    • Yes  : The HUD Module LEDs are operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by extreme temperatures.
    • No  : GO to G2  .
  2. G2 CHECK THE COMMUNICATION NETWORK 
    • Ignition ON.
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: Network Test.
    • Using a scan tool, perform the network test.

    Does the HUD module pass the network test? 

  3. G3 CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE HUD MODULE SELF-TEST 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: HUD Module Self-Test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

    • Yes  : REFER to DTC CHARTS .
    • No  : GO to G4  .
  4. G4 CHECK THE DTCs FROM THE C-CM SELF-TEST 
    • Enter the following diagnostic mode on the scan tool: C-CM Module Self-Test.

    Are any DTCs recorded? 

  5. G5 CHECK FOR CORRECT HUD MODULE OPERATION 
    • Disconnect and inspect the HUD module connector.
    • Repair:
      • corrosion (install new connector or terminals - clean module pins)
      • damaged pins - install new terminals/pins
      • pushed-out pins - install new pins as necessary
    • Reconnect the HUD module connector. Make sure it seats and latches correctly.
    • Operate the system and determine if the concern is still present.

    Is the concern still present? 

    • Yes  : CHECK OASIS for any applicable TSBs. If a TSB exists for this concern, DISCONTINUE this test and FOLLOW TSB instructions. If no TSBs address this concern, INSTALL a new HUD module. REFER to HEAD UP DISPLAY (HUD) MODULE .
    • No  : The system is operating correctly at this time. The concern may have been caused by module connections. ADDRESS the root cause of any connector or pin issues.
