Headlamp Washer (if equipped)
The headlamp washers only operate when the headlamps are on.
The BCM monitors the headlamp switch status and communicates this data to the SCCM over the CAN.
The SCCM sends the request to the windshield wiper motor through the LIN to activate the headlamp washer function if all of the following conditions are present:
- The headlamps are on (headlamp switch in on position or if in the auto position and the autolamp system has turned on the exterior lamps).
- A request for the windshield washer is detected.
- The headlamp washer has not been activated within the previous 10 minutes or 5 windshield wash requests have occurred.
When the headlamp wash is requested, the windshield wiper motor activates the headlamp washer relay (located in the BJB) by providing ground to the coil side of the headlamp washer relay. When the relay energizes, voltage is provided to the headlamp washer pump.
When the headlamp washer pump activates, it provides high pressure washer fluid to the headlamp washer jets. The headlamp washer jets extend and apply high pressure washer fluid to the headlamp lenses.
