The PSCM uses the motor inside the EPAS gear to calculate the angle and rotation of the steering wheel and transmits this information to other modules over the HS-CAN.

When this DTC is set, the PSCM removes steering assist, enters into manual mode and transmits an invalid steering angle message over the HS-CAN. The module also sends a message to the IPC to display POWER STEERING ASSIST FAULT in the message center.
