Normal Operation and Fault Conditions

On vehicles equipped with a gas engine, the RCM transmits an event notification signal which communicates fuel cut-off status and SRS deployment status to the PCM. This allows the PCM to initiate fuel cut-off in the event of a crash. 

The RCM monitors the event notification signal circuit for the following faults:

If a fault is detected, the RCM stores DTC B11D8:12 or B11D8:14 in memory. The airbag warning indicator does not illuminate if B11D8:12 or B11D8:14 is set.

DTC Description Fault Trigger Conditions
B11D8:11 Restraint Event Notification: Short to Ground Sets when the RCM senses a short to ground from the event notification signal circuit for more than 15 seconds.
B11D8:12 Restraint Event Notification: Circuit Short to Battery Sets when the RCM senses a short to voltage from the event notification signal circuit for more than 15 seconds.
B11D8:13 Restraint Event Notification: Circuit Open Sets when the RCM senses an open from the event notification signal circuit for more than 15 seconds.
