Pinpoint Test AZ: SASM (Steering Angle Sensor Module) Communication Concern With The SECM (Steering Effort Control Module): Notes
WARNING: This page is about a different car, the 2021 Ford F-150. However, it is still accessible from the selected car via links, so may be relevant.
Refer to VEHICLE DYNAMIC SYSTEMS for schematic and connector information.
Normal Operation and Fault Conditions
REFER to: Anti-Lock Brake System (ABS) and Stability Control - System Operation and Component Description .
With the ignition ON, the SECM sends messages to the SASM over a private CAN. If the SASM does not receive these messages within a certain time frame, the module sets Diagnostic Trouble Codes (DTCs). This can be due to a SECM failure, a circuit failure on the CAN network or an excessive load on the network.
DTC Fault Trigger Conditions
| DTC | Description | Fault Trigger Condition |
|---|---|---|
| SASM U0130:00 | Lost Communication With Steering Effort Control Module: No Sub Type Information | Sets if the SASM detects any of the SECM messages are missing. |
| SASM U0419:81 | Invalid Data Received From Steering Effort Control Module: Invalid Serial Data Received | Sets when the SASM receives invalid adaptive front steering startup or shutdown information from the SECM. |
